The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) declared this year’s theme for World Environment Day as “Ecosystem Restoration”. Assam Don Bosco University joins hands with the United Nations to restore our ecosystem through a “Remote Plantation Drive” organized by the Department of Zoology in collaboration with the EcoClub, Centre for Development Studies and Initiatives (CDSI), Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA-ADBU Unit), and the Swachhta Action Plan (SAP) Team. The event drew the attention of several participants, both young and old, who pledged to become #GenerationRestoration through a plantation drive at their own homes. The participants captured their “planting moments” and uploaded these photographs on social media to spread awareness about the urgent need to restore our ecosystems and make peace with nature. To make the event more meaningful, each seed, seedling and sapling was dedicated to the precious souls we have lost to Covid-19, to the ones who continue to fight against the disease, and also to the Health Care Workers and all the Frontline Workers who continue to fight against this deadly disease for us.
