The Department of Zoology in collaboration with the Eco-Club of Assam Don Bosco University celebrated World Animal Day on 4th October, 2023. The theme for this year Animal Day is “Big or Small, Love them all”. The programme began with an introduction on World Animal Day celebration during the morning assembly. A short presentation on how to save animals was made by the students of MSC 1st Semester Department of Zoology.  This was followed by a short message by Dr. Prasanta Kr.  Choudhury, Director, School of Life Sciences where he spoke on the importance of the event and the initiative to create awareness against animal abuse.

Photography competition and selfie cut out stand Competition were organized as a part of the celebration.  The winners of the Photography Competition were Steven Syiemlieh (First Prize), E. Asakho Chachei (2nd Prize) and Ashish Richard Binha (3rd Prize). The winners of the Selfie Cut out stand were Protyusha Roy and Chukame Ch. Marak (1st prize), Zerina Jamatia and Nirmala Basumatary (2nd Prize) and Saikhom Angela Devi and Yumnam Suraj Singh (also 2nd Prize). There were a total of 30 participants for the Photography Competition and 22 participants for the Cut out Selfie stand competition. Both the events were carried out simultaneously by enthusiastic participants.
