A workshop on Open Source Software for Library Automation was held at Assam Don Bosco University, School of Technology, Azara Campus on 23- 25 January 2017. The workshop was jointly organized by collaboration of DRTC, Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Bangalore and Assam Don Bosco University and was sponsored by ISI, Bangalore.
The inauguration function was graced by Prof. Mahendra Nath Bora as Chief Guest, Dr. Wooma S. Dev Nath as Guest of Honor and Prof. ARD Prasad as the Chairperson of the Programme, along with dignitaries of Assam Don Bosco University.
The workshop aimed at developing an expertise on Open Source Software known as KOHA by providing a thorough training, tutorial, demonstration and hands-on practice, It also aimed at updating the professionals and academic community about content management.
Out of 86 professionals who registered for the workshop, 25 were selected from Assam, Meghalya, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh. The resource persons included Prof. ARD Prasad, HOD DRTC, ISI Bagalore, Prof. Devika Madali, DRTC, ISI Bangalore, Dr. Sunita Barve, NCL Pune, Dr. Gautam Kr. Sarma, IDOL Gauhati University and Dr. Firstborn Roy Sumer, Deputy Librarian, NEHU, Shillong.
