Doctoral Commencement at Assam Don Bosco University was held on the 8 April 2013. His Excellency, Shri Devanand Konwar, the Governor of Tripura was the Chief Guest on this occasion. He called upon the young researchers to be authentic, creative and committed in creating knowledge to enhance the world. Congratulating the new batch of scholars who pledged to be sincere in their search, he exhorted them to be genuine in their desire for acquiring the degree. The Governor appreciated the University’s methodical way of organizing the doctoral program and its gigantic steps to better education in the region.

Fr.(Dr.) Stephen Mavely, the Vice Chancellor in his welcome speech set the tone for the research program. Fr. V. M Thomas, the Chancellor and Most Rev. Thomas Menamparampil, the Archbishop Emeritus, Guwahati, spoke on the occasion, challenging the scholars to have passion for research and urged them to engage in systematic way.

There are 55 students pursuing doctoral degrees in 12 disciplines such as: Biotechnology, Business Administration, Chemical Sciences, Civil Engineering, Comparative Religion, Computer Science, Electrical and

Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Forensic Science, Language Studies, Mass Communication, North East India Studies, Physics, Social Work etc.
