The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized an Industrial talk on “A brief overview on 400kV Kukurmara GSS” by industrial expert on 9th November 2023, as one of the initiatives to bridge the industry-academia gap and to make students industry-ready as soon they enter the professional life. Ms. Munmee Saikia, Assistant Manager in the Assam Electricity Grid Co. Ltd. (AEGCL), who is also an alumnus of the department, was the resource person of the programme.

The resource person described about the 400 KV Grid Sub-Station under AEGCL situated at Kukurmara, Mirza (Assam) in an industrial approach. Mirza substation’s feeder details were mentioned which included two incoming lines from Bongaigaon and Silchar. The substation has six transformers (to step down to a voltage of 200KV, 132KV, 33KV) and one auxiliary transformer of 80 KVA 33/0.415 kV to supply the loads in the substation. The students were visually exposed with main bus and a transfer bus, main bus with bus sectionalizer, Lightning Arrester, CVT, Circuit breaker, isolator and Wavetrap. A detailed discussion was held on NIFPS (Nitrogen Injection Fire Protection System) and various parts of power transformers. A total of 58 participants of B.Tech, M.Tech along with the faculty members of the department attended the session.
