The department of Civil Engineering under ADBU School of Technology at Azara organized the first colloquium on “Current practice and latest trends in Civil Engineering” on 29 March 2014.

“This is the first in a series of events that we propose to hold on current practice and latest trends in civil engineering bringing together both academicians and experts in the filed,” said Prof Manranjan Kalita principal of Don Bosco College of Engineering and Technology speaking at the inaugural function.

Vice Chancellor of Assam Don Bosco University Dr Stephen Mavely complimented departmental effort saying, “Colloquium, seminar, conference and workshop – these are some of the buzz words that are going on in the School of Technology these days to get ourselves abreast of what’s happening in the field.”

He wished the faculty and students to be persons “who are up to date and alert to the developments taking place.”

Among three eminent resources persons for the day were: Dr Binu Sarma, Professor at Assam Engineering College Guwahati who talked on: Geotechnical Engineering – A study on Liquefaction potential in GuwahatiCity.

Second lecture was by proprietor of Architect Collaborative Mr Ramendru Baishya who spoke on “Building Technology: Concepts of Green Building.”

Third presenter, Dr A.K. Sarma, Professor and HoD of Civil Engineering at IIT Guwahati spoke on: Application of Geoinformatics and mathematical Models in Water Resources.”
