The Assam Don Bosco University bid adieu to Sr Shiji James who was Director of Communications at Azara campus for the past five and a half years. Her outstanding production “SPARK” the University’s quarterly publication, is known all over the world as the information flagship of ADBU.
The farewell function held at the conference room at noon on Thursday, 14 August, started off with a melodious bhajan sung by Ms Hemashree Bordoloi invoking the Almighty’s choicest blessings on Sr Shiji’s every venture.
Sr Shiji who is completing her PhD in Communications from GuwahatiUniversity is scheduled to take up duties in the Head Quarters of Missionary Sisters
of Mary Help of Christians at Hathigaon, Guwahati.
Speaking at the event, Vice Chancellor Dr Stephen Mavely expressed his hope that Sr Shiji’s departure from the University community would be only for a short while, and that she would soon join the Mass Communication Department after her doctoral studies.
Other speakers included principal Mr Manoranjan Kalita and faculty representative Mr Mriganka Gogoi.
After the offering of gifts from the Vice Chancellor, Principal and the faculty, Sr Shiji addressed the gathering with words of gratitude for each one by name.
The farewell gathering anchored by Asst Prof. Usha Mary concluded with a tea party.
