The Department of Mathematics in collaboration with the Department of Economics organized a two-day workshop titled “Introduction to Basic Mathematics” at Administrative Block 1, Assam Don Bosco University on 17-18 October 2019. The purpose of the workshop was to reintroduce basic mathematics to the under graduate student of Economics and Mathematics to help them understand better the concepts and applications.

At the inaugural session, the Vice Chancellor Fr. Stephen Mavely spoke on the importance of mathematics in our daily life and the need to eradicate the fear of mathematics. He also encouraged the students to spend more time in solving mathematical problems – which is a key to master mathematics.

During these two days lectures were delivered by Dr. Saugata Purkayastha, Dr. Sanjay Dutta, Dr. Hemen Bharali and Dr. Fokrul A Mazarbhuiya. The workshop was attended by 38 participants and it was coordinated by Dr. Hemen Bharali, HoD, Department of Mathematics and Dr. Kasturi Goswami, Department Incharge of Economics.
