A hands-on Training on Basic to Advanced Computation was conducted by the Department of Physics on 8th and 15th September 2023.

The primary objective of the training programme was to equip the students with essential computational tools and techniques required for carrying out their project work. The training module included Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Origin, GNU Plot, and Latex. The training comprised of six hours of lectures and hands-on activities each day for four days. The training was initiated from an introductory level and the trainees were taken to an advanced level during the course of the training, with special emphasis on dexterity. They were asked to solve problems and were given ample home assignments to hone their skills. The trainees were provided with resource materials ranging from relevant websites, YouTube channel links to discussion forums.

The programme proved to be a valuable addition to the academic curriculum. It was successful in preparing the students for writing a good project report and delivering a good presentation. In addition, it encouraged a spirit of inquiry, critical thinking, and collaboration.

The training programme was attended by the students of M.Sc. third semester and B.Sc. fifth semester students. The programme was organized by Dr. Debajyoti Dutta, HoD, Department of Physics and the training was conducted by Dr. Yajnya Sapkota and Dr. Bikash Borah, Assistant Professors of the same department.
