Don Bosco University’s Center for Development Studies and Initiatives (DBU-CDSI) conducted a Summer School for Grade IX & X students of the neighboring villages (Marangabari, Upper Tapesia, Jargoan, Patharkuchi, Kamarkuchi and Hatimura), 24 – 28 July, 2017.

The programme, conducted in response to the expressed need and request by parents who could not afford to pay special tuition fees in English for their children saw an enrolment of 59 students.

During these 5 days, Elementary English classes were conducted in the morning hours, focussing on basic English Grammar as students hailed from vernacular medium; while afternoon sessions were held on teaching life skills and career guidance.

Various departments of the University (English, Social Work, Education and Psychology) collaborated in this effort of DBU-CDSI in mobilising the students and conducting the classes.
