150 students
of the second semester, belonging to the civil, mechanical and electrical communication batches underwent a full day student development programme on the 24th and 25th of January 2014. This student development programme was arranged for them in continuation of the full-day orientation they had undergone at the beginning of their 1st Semester in the University. The other two batches – computer science and electrical and electronic engineering – will have their development programme on the 1st of February. The focus of this student development programme was on psychological counselling – its need and relevance, counselling not being a taboo at any stage, stress management, and living and working together. Mrs Leeta Hazaria, a professional psychological counsellor and therapist, Miss Neshmita and Miss Neelam – both of them faculties from the Psychology department of the University, and Fr. Francis guided the students in coming to a greater awareness of the possibilities and challenges of growth offered to them through well-prepared sessions, questionnaires and group interaction. The fact that a two-day staff development programme was being held in the university campus during these
days served as a solid reference and motivation to the students, all of whom are in the very first year of their training and formation at the School of Technology.
