On 14th March 2023, the Department of Mathematics celebrated Pi Day and International Day of Mathematics with ‘Mathematics for Everyone’ as a theme at Tapesia Campus.
To mark the occasion, an ‘Invited Talk’ by Dr. Gautam Kalita, Associate Professor, Department of Science and Mathematics, Indian Institute of Information Technology, Guwahati, was invited. He delivered a talk on “ , Irrationality and Infinite Series”. He discussed advancements in the study of Pi and how they relate to various branches of Mathematics, and spoke about scopes of research in the study of Pi.
In addition to an Invited Talk, a Poster Presentation Competition with a theme “Recent Trends in Science and Technology” and a Quiz Competition on “General Mathematics, History of Mathematics and Contribution of Indian Mathematicians” were also organized. Several students from different departments of Assam Don Bosco University participated in the competitions. The celebration ended with certificates and prize distribution to the winners.
