The academic year 2016-17 for the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and the School of Life Sciences was inaugurated on 18th August 2016 at the new and Permanent Campus at Tapesia Gardens.
Speaking at the inauguration, the Chancellor of the University Fr. V.M. Thomas invoked the blessings of Saint John Bosco, as the University has crossed yet another milestone in its history.
Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor, Fr. (Dr) Stephen Mavely said, “ Tapesia has been a vision, a tantalising vision that kept eluding us over eight long years…something that we had been waiting for since November 2007 when we first met the Chief Minister of Assam for a permission to establish the campus of the University at Tapesia Gardens. During these past 8+ years, we have had our hopes raised time and again only to be be dashed to the ground every time – umpteen number of times. But, now, we do not look backward at the pain, the anxiety and the heart breaking disappointments that dogged our path to Tapesia…they remain the tales of yesterday!”
Present on this auspicious occasion were His Grace, the Archbishop of Guwahati, Bishop John Moolachira, dignitaries of the University, faculty, students and parents.
