The Interdisciplinary Research (IDR) team at Assam Don Bosco University, in partnership with the prestigious Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) organized an enlightening event titled “Career Prospects in the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India.” The event, hosted in the university’s Academic Block 1 Auditorium, gathered students and faculty from a variety of disciplines, with a strong turnout of students in attendance, reflecting significant interest and enthusiasm for the session.
The session featured two prominent speakers from BARC – Shri G.R. Ursal, Scientific Officer and Group Leader of the BARC Technology Transfer, Deployment, and Outreach Group and Dr. Paramjeet Rana, Scientific Officer-G from the Advanced Tunable Laser Application Division (ATLAD)
The core focus of the event was to educate students about the diverse career opportunities available within the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) and BARC. Both speakers provided insightful presentations on how students from various fields, including the Department of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, and Biosciences, could pursue career paths in DAE and BARC. They covered the application criteria, internships, job roles, and the dynamic work environment at BARC, inspiring students to explore roles that align with their academic backgrounds.
In particular, Shri Ursal discussed the process of technology transfer and the impact of BARC’s innovations on industries and communities. Dr. Rana delved into opportunities and prospects on different multidisciplinary innovative research with laser applications, and nuclear radiations illustrating how advanced science opens new career possibilities and contributes to practical problem-solving in fields such as healthcare, defense, and industrial applications.
The event concluded with a vibrant interactive session, where students engaged actively with the speakers, asking questions about the application processes, career paths, and future possibilities in their respective domains.
