The University’s Department of Computer Science Engineering & Information Technology held a 5-Day Workshop on ‘Big Data Developer’ on Wrox Certified Big Data Developer at its Azara campus from 1-5 May 2015.

The Pro-Vice Chancellor, Fr Joseph Nellanatt inaugurated the workshop, the first workshop of its kind in Northeast India. The workshop wass facilitated by resource persons Dr. Subkarajyoti and Biswajyoti Kar of Data Brio Academy, Kolkata.

Twelve participants of the workshop include eight faculty members of Dept of CSE &IT of ADBU, one from Scholar Institute of Technology, Guwahati, as well as 3 MTech students from the University.

The workshop was designed to introduce professionals aspiring to make a career in Big Data Analytics to Hadoop Framework. After Hadoop was installed in the IBM Design Lab of the University on the first day, the workshop focused on the components of Hadoop like MapReduce, PIG and ETL Process, HBASE, HIVE, SQOOP and R etc.

Expressing his happiness about Hadoop, Dr.Y. Jayanta, HoD of the Department of Computer Science Engineering & Information Technology said, “ Now, our department is equipped with HADOOP, Datasets for ETL and DATA Mining etc., and I invite our students to start doing BIGDATA projects using HADOOP”.
